Why the short ones went first
A length class is a fixed number of names and it never grows. Two letters is 676 of them, three is 17,576, four is 456,976 — small enough that a registrar, a speculator or a drop-catcher can hold the whole space in mind, and they have. Five letters is 11,881,376, which is past the point where anyone can own all of it. That is the whole reason the line falls where it does, and it is why the answer for the short classes does not change.
